History

Built in 1928 at Gilmore Creek, this large mess hall and bunkhouse was used to feed 300 workers in its heyday.

The building was moved to Fairbanks Creek along with the Fairbanks Creek Dredge in the late 40's. It was moved to its present location in 1996, opening for business in December of 1997. Newly remodeled with all the modern conveniences, yet keeping its rustic charm, it fits nicely into its present setting. Offering a spectacular view of the Alaska Range with Mt. McKinley, the Tanana River and foothills from its six south-facing rooms and a peaceful view of the woods full of spruce trees from its six north-facing rooms.
